Sheriffs’ Reports 10-03-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against six individuals.

A Lancaster woman, 23, was charged September 23 with destruction of property valued under $1,000.

A Heathsville man, 23, was charged September 23 with violating a protective order.

A Lancaster man, 44, was charged September 25 with assault and battery of a family member, damage to a phone/phone line to prevent summoning of law enforcement, disorderly conduct and appearing intoxicated in public.

A Lancaster woman, 52, was charged (no date given) with failure to appear for arraignment on an assault and battery charge.

A Lancaster man, 52, was charged September 29 with assault and battery of a family member and destruction of property valued less than $1,000.

A Heathsville man, 22, was charged September 29 with stalking.

Activity report

September 23: Staff responded to the 100 block of Town Centre Drive to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department with a suspicious person, and to the 100 block of Pleasants Lane for a person with mental issues.

September 24: Staff responded to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a fight in progress, to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for an assault with weapons involved, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a juvenile making suicidal threats, and to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a trespasser.

September 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Campbell Road for an unattended death, to the 100 block of Paynes Shop Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 4100 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic fight in progress.

September 26: Staff responded to the 8200 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway to assist Social Services with a person living in an unsafe condition, and to the 400 block of North Main Street for threats made to harm another.

September 27: Staff responded to the 200 block of Shady Lane to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with lifting a medical patient, to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for a domestic assault, to the 4100 block of Merry Point Road for vandalism and theft of a vehicle, to the 18700 block of Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 700 block of Fleets Bay Road for trespassers, and to the 100 block of Morattico Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash and vehicle fire.

September 28: Staff responded to the 100 block of Brent Court for the report of a trespasser, and to the 100 block of Scott Road for a domestic disturbance.

September 29: Staff responded to the 100 block of Landing View Drive to check the welfare of the residents after receiving a report from a family member, to the 300 block of Devils Bottom Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Bar Neck Lane for a domestic disturbance that involved alcohol and a weapon being discharged, and to Devil’s Bottom Road for a downed tree and power lines in the highway.

Staff also conducted 14 traffic stops, issued nine summonses, assisted a motorist, recorded a deer strike accident, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, and received six E911 hang-up calls.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a lift assistance request on Glebe Road, a brush fire on Little Bay Road and a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to a traffic crash on Mt. Olive Road.

The Upper Lancaster VFD established separate landing zones on Ridge Road and Burnt Wharf Road, and responded to a brush fire and a traffic crash on Morattico Road.

EMS calls

For September 15-21, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 32 calls, including 15 medical emergencies, seven injuries, three traffic accidents, a fire call and six other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Jason Kyle Roberts, 41, of Callao was charged September 24 with first degree murder. This was a Northumberland County warrant, served by the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Police Department.

Johnnie Ray Parker, 51, of Callao man was charged September 27 with breaking and entering into the McKenney Insurance Agency. He also was charged with petit larceny, third offense, and damaging property.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville woman, 74, was charged September 25 with three summonses for failing to feed her animals and three summonses for failing to provide water for the same animals.

A Heathsville woman, 44, was charged September 27 with petit larceny, first offense. This was an Essex County warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Reedville man, 43, was charged September 28 with violating a protective order.

Fire calls

For the week of September 23-30, the Callao VFD responded to five calls, including a fire, a woods fire, two motor vehicle crashes, and a fire alarm.

The Fairfields VFD responded to eight calls, including a gas leak, a fire, three motor vehicle crashes, two woods fires and an alarm.

EMS calls

For the week of September 23-30, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 30 calls, including 22 medical calls, three trauma/fall calls, four motor vehicle crashes, and a standby.
