Sheriffs’ Reports 10-24-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals as a result of investigations by the Chesapeake Bay Drug Task Force, which consists of the Lancaster and Northumberland County Sheriff’s Offices and the Virginia State Police.

Molly Jean Kane, 39, of Lancaster was charged October 15 with distributing imitation Schedule I or II drugs.

Wayne Robert McMillan Jr., 39, of White Stone was charged October 15 with possession with intent to sell, give or distribute cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Robert Ashley Bellows, 49, of White Stone was charged October 15 with possession with intent to sell, give or distribute cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Marissa Nicole Morales, 20, of Lancaster was charged October 16 with possession with intent to sell, give or distribute an imitation controlled substance imitating cocaine, a schedule II drug.

Steve Deroger Lee Waller Jr., 30, of Kilmarnock was charged October 16 possession with intent to sell, give or distribute cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Sheriff McCranie noted charges have yet to be served on two additional suspects.

Sheriff McCranie also reported charges against six other individuals.

Felony

Joshua Tyler Williams, 23, of Cobbs Creek was charged October 14 with two counts of grand larceny, possession of stolen property at a value of over $500 with intent to sell, four counts of violating the conditions of a pretrial/release and two counts of probation violation on a felony offense.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 36, was charged October 16 with assault and battery of a family member, and October 18 with violating a protective order.

A Kilmarnock woman, 32, was charged October 17 with contempt of court: Failure to appear.

A Weems man, 58, was charged October 18 with violating an alcohol safety program.

A Weems man, 28, was charged October 18 with failure to appear on a felony offense, revocation of bail for failing to comply with pretrial conditions and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

A White Stone man, 64, was charged October 20 with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Activity report

October 14: Staff responded to the intersection of River and Morattico roads for a driver with possible medical issues; to the 100 block of Shore Drive to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a home invasion, to the 4400 block of Irvington Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 1000 block of Cherry Point Drive for a trespasser, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver entering the county from Middlesex, to the 3700 block of Mary Ball Road to investigate a death, and to the Norris Bridge for a possible suicide attempt.

October 15: Staff responded to the 3900 block of Black Stump Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 600 block of Devils Bottom Road for a domestic assault.

October 16: Staff responded to the 700 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a civil issue that advice was needed to resolve, to the intersection of River and Thomas Landing roads for a vehicle that crashed into a building, to the 1700 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 100 block of Bar Neck Lane for a verbal disagreement.

October 17: Staff responded to the 200 block of Weems Road for vandalism of tires on a vehicle.

October 18: Staff responded to Chesapeake Drive for a trespasser, to James B. Jones Highway and Coxes Farm Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of North Main Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department with a fight in progress, to the 100 block of Primary School Circle for a fight in progress between two adult males, to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a noise violation, to the 200 block of Sandlin Drive for a suspicious person, and to the 4100 block of Merry Point Road for the report of vandalism to a residence.

October 19: Staff responded to the 1700 block of Rocky Neck Road for a verbal disagreement, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a disorderly person, to the 200 block of James Lane to check the welfare of the resident after receiving a report from a family member, to the 300 block of Campbell Road for threats made to harm others with weapons involved, to the 100 block of Cherry Hill Road for a fight in progress involving eight to nine persons armed with knives and bats, to the 100 block of Harris Road for the foot pursuit by law enforcement of a wanted person, to the 200 block of Pleasant Banks Lane for gunshots, and to the 400 block of Wilson Lane for a trespasser.

October 20: Staff responded to the 400 block of Boys Camp Road for a possible prowler, to Norris Bridge for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for a suspicious vehicle, to the 600 block of Newtown Road to investigate the report of a sudden death, to White Stone on Mary Ball Road for the report of a reckless driver, to Windmill Point Road for a tree branch in the roadway, to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a disorderly person, and to the 100 block of Kathy Drive for the report of a possible burglary.

Staff also conducted 11 traffic stops, issued six summonses, assisted nine motorists, recorded four deer strike accidents, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged six inmate transports, received seven E911 hang-up calls and fielded two requests for animal control.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to fire/smoke alarms on James Lane and on Lancaster Drive.

The Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a vehicle crash into a building on River Road, a traffic crash on Crawfords Corner Road and a brush fire on Slabtown Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to a possible brush fire on Irvington Road and a fire/smoke alarm on Club Drive.

EMS calls

For October 13-19, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 37 calls, including 10 medical emergencies, nine injuries, four traffic accidents, five fires and nine other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 10 individuals.

Felonies

Brian Keith Painter, 48, of Weems was charged October 10 on a capias to show cause issued from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to obey a court order. This was a Northumberland County paper served by the Warsaw Police Department.

Kadene Roy Gordon, 21, of Heathsville was charged October 11 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for an original charge of forgery.

Keywon Maquee Gaskins, 24, of Heathsville was charged October 11 with a capias to show cause issued from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to be on peace and good behavior and obeying a court order. This was a Northumberland County paper served by the Kilmarnock Police Department.

Alicia Sharayn Darby, 28, of Tappahannock was charged October 14 on a capias to show cause issued from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear. This was a Northumberland County paper served by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office.

Vicki Bartlett, 57, of Ophelia was charged October 16 on a direct indictment issued from the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for embezzlement.

James E. Brown Jr., 46, of Chesterfield was charged October 19 with driving under the influence, third offense in 10 years, and driving with a revoked license (alcohol related). He also was charged with refusal of the breath test, second offense, driving with hazard lights on, driving without a seat belt and driving with an open container.

Misdemeanors

A Lottsburg man, 38, was charged October 7 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Heathsville man, 29, was charged October 10 with a capias/attachment of the body issued from the Newport News Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear.

A Heathsville man, 63, was charged October 15 with driving on a revoked license.

A Weems man, 28, was charged October 18 with a capias to show cause for failing to comply with his pre-trial supervision.
