Sheriffs’ Reports 10-29-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against two individuals.

Felony

Christopher R. Hanley, 47, of White Stone was charged October 25 with strangling another causing wounding or injury.

Misdemeanor

A Heathsville woman, 66, was charged October 19 with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right side of the highway.

Activity report

Oct 19: Staff responded to the White Stone Post Office for an illegally parked vehicle, and to the 200 block of Newtown Road for a sexual assault.

Oct 20: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with a traffic stop, to the 100 block of Holly Haven Road for a civil issue, to the 100 block of Hidden Cove Drive for a disorderly person, and to the 2000 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic disturbance.

Oct 21: Staff responded to Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a reckless driver, to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for gunshots fired in a business parking lot, to the 200 block of Carters Cove Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic assault involving alcohol.

Oct 22: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a disorderly person, to the 1000 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 10900 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway to assist emergency medical services with a person passed out in a vehicle, to the 100 block of Bertrand Place for trespassers, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a damaged vehicle from falling debris off of a passing vehicle, and to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with the report of loitering with alcohol involved.

Oct 23: Staff responded to the 100 block of Weems Road for the theft of political signs, to the 2200 block of Merry Point Road for repeated gunshots, and to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for disorderly trespassers.

Oct 24: Staff responded to a walk-in report of trespassing at the 1200 block of Chesapeake Trail, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for a burglary and larceny of an electronic device, to Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1000 block of Alfonso Road for an abandoned vehicle, and to the 100 block of Wesley Terrace for the unauthorized use of a vehicle by a person with a revoked license.

Oct 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Third Avenue to assist KPD with a welfare check of a resident after being alerted by a family member, and to the 400 block of Mosquito Point Road for the report of an assault and the brandishing of a firearm.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued three summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, logged four inmate transports, received 34 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a power pole fire on Bagpipe Lane, a traffic crash on Rappahannock Drive and with Kilmarnock VFD to a fuel spill from a sinking boat on Church Prong Lane.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on North Main Street, and two separate traffic crashes on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a vehicle fire on Mary Ball Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against nine individuals

Felonies

Daniel James Banes, 38, of Callao was charged October 12 with four felony counts of uttering and four felony counts of obtaining signatures by false pretenses. He also was charged with four counts of larceny and petit larceny. These were all Northumberland County warrants served by the Richmond Police Department.

Hannibal Tyler-El, 39, of Burgess was charged October 19 with driving under the influence of alcohol, third offense within five years and driving on a revoked license.

Misdemeanors

A Callao man, 57, was charged October 19 with seven counts of threatening dogs.

A Reedville man, 49, was charged October 20 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Gloucester County General District Court for failing to appear. This was a Gloucester County charge and the arrest was made by Northumberland County.

A Heathsville man, 64, was charged October 21 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for violating his pretrial services.

A Heathsville woman, 41, was charged October 21 with determining a threatening dog and running at large in a prohibited area.

A Weems woman, 58, was charged October 21 with a capias to show cause by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with her pre-trial conditions by testing positive for alcohol, marijuana and cocaine.

A Callao woman, 50, was charged October 23 by VSP for driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

A White Stone man, 26, was charged October 25 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Middlesex County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear in their court for the underlying charge of assault and battery of a family member. He also was charged on another capias/attachment of the body from Middlesex for violating conditions of his supervision. A summons was issued by Northumberland County for possession of marijuana.
