Sheriffs’ Reports

Sheriff's ReportsLancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felony

Mindy Sue Davis, 36, of Mathews was charged January 6 with stealing a motor vehicle valued at $1,000 or more, assault and battery of a police officer, as well as misdemeanors of obstructing justice/resisting arrest, and receiving stolen goods.

Misdemeanors

A White Stone man, 68, was charged January 1 with assault and battery of a family or household member.

A Warsaw man, 36, was charged January 3 with appearing in public in an intoxicated condition, and disorderly conduct.

A Kilmarnock woman, 66, was charged January 5 with appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

A Lancaster woman, 34, was charged January 6 with willfully concealing or taking possession of goods or merchandise having a value of less than $1,000 and belonging to Walmart.

Activity report

January 1: Staff responded to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for suspicious activity, to Johns Neck Road and Carters Cove Drive for utility lines in the highway, and to the 100 block of Merry Point Road for suspicious activity.

January 2: Staff responded to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 70 block of Peake Road for a reckless driver, to the 7000 block of River Road for a vehicle hit and run, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for harassment, to the 400 block of Lumberlost Road for the report of a reckless driver, and to the 70 block of Forest Haven Drive for a domestic disturbance.

January 3: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Good Luck roads for a disabled vehicle, to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person, to the 500 block of Regina Road for suspicious activity, to the 1400 block of Davis Mill Road for suspicious activity, and to the 100 block of Pinckardsville Road for a domestic disturbance.

January 4: Staff responded to the 2000 block of Weems Road for livestock in the highway, to the 2000 block of Weems Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 20 block of Shalem Place for a juvenile complaint, to Mary Ball Road and Regina roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1900 block of Nuttsville Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to Gaskins and Christ Church roads for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Moccasin Trail for a suspicious person, to Chesapeake Trail and Dungeons Thicket Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to Clover and Dogwood lanes for a disabled vehicle.

January 5: Staff responded to the 2000 block of Fleets Bay Road for an adult welfare check, to the 700 block of Greenvale Road for identity theft, to Mary Ball and Harris roads for a disabled tractor trailer, to the 100 block of Robbins Lane for suspicious activity, to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a larceny, and to Rappahannock General Hospital for an accidental gunshot wound to the foot.

January 6: Staff responded to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for an adult welfare check, to the 100 block of First Street for individuals speeding in the area, to the 300 block of Campbell Road for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of East Highview Drive for gunshots in the late evening hours, and to Granville Road for suspicious activity.

January 7: Staff responded to the 600 block of Kamps Mill Road for a disabled vehicle.

January 8: Staff responded to the 800 block of Kamps Mill Road for a larceny.

Staff also conducted 24 traffic stops, issued 15 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled a call for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received eight E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 6784 Mary Ball Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a propane leak at 367 West Bay Drive.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felony

Ethan James Redd, 35, of Fairfax was charged December 28 on a capias issued from the Loudoun County Circuit Court for two counts of violating his probation on felony offenses. He also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of violating his probation. A Bench Warrant was issued from the Fairfax County Circuit Court for Reed on charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful entry. Reed also was charged on felony warrants out of Fairfax County for uttering in writing knowing it was a forged document and obtaining money by false pretenses. 

Misdemeanors

A Callao man, 24, was charged December 19 with damaging property and being drunk in public. 

A Reedville man, 23, was charged December 21 with shoplifting at the Walmart in Kilmarnock. This was a Lancaster County warrant served by Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office. 

A Lancaster County man, 41, was charged December 22 with driving under the influence of alcohol. 

A Burgess man, 25, was charged January 3 on a capias to show cause issued from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violating his pre-trial conditions. This paper was served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. 

A Callao man, 55, was charged January 6 with damaging property. 

A Reedville woman, 68, was charged January 6 with shoplifting from the Walmart in Kilmarnock. This was a Lancaster County warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
