Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felony

Samoya Lynnae Ball, 30, of Lancaster was charged February 23 with having received a visible or audible signal from a law enforcement officer to stop, drive a motor vehicle in a willful and wanton disregard of such signal so as to interfere with or endanger the operation of the law-enforcement vehicle or endanger a person, and commit reckless driving by driving a motor vehicle on the highway at a speed of 20 miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable speed limit.

Misdemeanors

A White Stone man, 43, charged February 22 with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of at least 0.15 but not more than 0.20, while being a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18, commit a willful act in the care of such child as to show a reckless disregard for human life, and driving to the left of a double solid yellow line.

A Lancaster woman, 40, was charged February 23 with failure to appear in court.

February 17: Staff responded to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for downed utility lines, to the 700 block of Taylors Creek Road for destruction of property, to the 1000 block of Mosquito Point Road for an adult welfare check, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for legal advice, and to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for a domestic disturbance.

February 18: Staff responded to Spencer Lane for a suspicious vehicle, to the 30 block of Williams Mill Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for destruction of property, to the 100 block of Dodson Road for suspicious activity, and to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for the a domestic disturbance.

February 19: Staff responded to the 2000 block of Morattico Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash; to the 700 block of King Carter Drive for legal advice, to Courthouse Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 100 block of Fitchett Drive for credit card fraud.

February 20: Staff responded to the Taylors Creek area for gunshots in the late evening hours.

February 21: Staff responded to the Wesley Terrace area for gunshots in the early evening hours.

February 22: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for an attempt to obtain money by false pretense, to White Chapel and Lara roads for an abandoned vehicle and to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a disabled vehicle.

February 23: Staff responded to the 7300 block of River Road for a vehicle pursuit by law enforcement, to River and White Chapel roads for an abandoned vehicle, and to the 500 block of Rappahannock Drive for suspicious activity.

Staff also conducted 21 traffic stops, issued 17 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled a request for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received three E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to an outbuilding structure fire at 2165 Windmill Point Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Otis Redding Fisher, 52, of Montross was charged February 10 with a felony for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Randy Taylor, 48, of Warsaw was charged February 13 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury with four counts of distribution/selling for profit a Schedule I/Il drug. He was served by the Tappahannock Police Department.

Misdemeanors

A Sandy Point man, 36, was charged January 31 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Fredericksburg General District Court for failing to comply with a court order on an original charge of driving under the influence, second offense within five years. He was served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

A Reedville woman, 58, was charged February 3 with disorderly conduct. This was an Essex County warrant served by the NCSO.

A Montross man, 52, was charged February 13 with petit larceny.

A Heathsville man, 50, was charged February 14 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Richmond County General District Court for failing to appear in their court on original charges of driving suspended and reckless driving.

A Callao man, 28, was charged February 19 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear on an original charge of driving suspended.
