Sherwood A. ‘Captain Woody’ Robertson

REEDVILLE—Sherwood Alan “Captain Woody” Robertson went home to his Lord May 21, 2019. He was born January 8, 1944, in Sandston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Blanche Robertson; sister, Elaine Robertson Snyder; and daughter, Shawna Robertson Farrant.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Lindley Robertson; brother, Michael Robertson (Donna); daughters, Karen Cline and Rennie Snead; and grandchildren, Katie Snead, Jessie Snead and Vincent Farrant.

Captain Woody was a passionate charter boat captain. He brought great joy to his customers aboard his vessel Sharon’s Song with many awesome fishing adventures. Sharon’s Song was a 46-foot dead-rise built by third generation boat-wright George Butler in Reedville. He was so proud of his vessel. “Fish on!”

He was a life-long member of Sandston Baptist Church, Sandston, and was blessed with a strong Christian faith. It was his pleasure to visit nursing homes in Kilmarnock where his mother had been a resident for several years bringing love and cheeseburgers to all.

Captain Woody enjoyed tending his beautifully landscaped yard and working out at the YMCA. His gregarious people-person nature made him a well-loved figure in Reedville. He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at Sandston Baptist Church. Woody was a patriotic man. In lieu of flowers, contributions to “Wounded Warrior Project” would be appreciated.

Bennett Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, handled the arrangements.
