LOTTSBURG—Shirley Ann Miller Webb, 88, of Lottsburg peacefully exchanged her Earthly life for her Heavenly one on Monday, December 9, 2024.
Shirley was born in Miskimon to the late Charles Frederick Miller and the late Mamie Jett Self Miller. She was the cherished wife of William Atlee Webb Sr. and together they would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary next month. Shirley retired from their family business, Lottsburg Printing. She was a member of Melrose Methodist Church and a longtime member of Women of the Moose, where she enjoyed several leadership and elected positions during her tenure there.
A Northern Neck girl through and through, Shirley not only managed the office at the family’s printing company; but had a side enterprise making crab pots. She was known for quickly turning a spool of wire into a well-made crab pot; and her customers came from both sides of the Potomac. Her work ethic and resourcefulness earned her the respect of many. Shirley was an excellent cook and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will miss her deeply.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, William; her loving children, son William “Bill” A. Webb Jr. (Cathy) and daughter Sharon Webb Mann (David); her grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Webb, Matthew Webb (Heather), Dennis Atlee Webb (Rebecca), Amy Clarke and Jonathan Clarke; her great-grandchildren, Autumn Sky Monday, Natalie Webb, Tucker Webb, Lily Webb, Harris Webb, Connor McDonald and Justin Clarke. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her wonderful caregiver, Carolyn Crockett.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mamie; and her siblings, Melvin Miller, Mary Haydon, Elsie Rock, J.W. Miller and Dorothy Rock.
A funeral service for Shirley was held Friday, December 13, at Melrose Methodist Church. Reverend Kenny Wayne Newsome officiated. Following her service Shirley was laid to rest in the Webb Family plot in Melrose Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Webb, Jonathan Clarke, Justin Clarke, Allen Webb, Kevin Haydon and Dennis Webb.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in loving memory of Shirley to the Callao Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 39, Callao, VA 22435.
Welch Funeral Home of Warsaw handled the arrangements.
