Shoptober to open with public event

The Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce will launch the fifth annual Shoptober by the Bay sales promotion with a public event from 1-5 p.m. Friday, September 27, at Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.

Stop by and find out what this shopping event is all about, said executive director Anne Paparella. Enjoy some refreshments and take advantage of early deals.

The tickets for this shopping promotion will be available for $20 with proceeds from each ticket benefitting Northern Neck Partners for Pets. Tickets are also available at many participating stores and at the Chamber office, 16A Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock, throughout October.

Each ticket will list all participating stores on the back with the discounts and specials each business is offering for the month, said Paparella. All specials and discounts are to be used only once during October at each store. Additionally, all ticket holders will be entered in drawings to be held throughout the month for a chance to win gift certificate and prizes from participating businesses.

Over 40 businesses in Kilmarnock, Irvington and White Stone will be providing exclusive savings, she said. Participating retail stores also will be listed at lancasterva.com and be identified by posters.

“The local businesses are excited to join together to create a shopping event which highlights the unique items our businesses have to offer, while providing an opportunity to bring visitors to our area,” said Paparella.

“We are thrilled to partner with Chesapeake Bank and Two Rivers Communication in supporting our local businesses with this event,” she added.
