’Sleeping Beauty’ performed

The Virginia Repertory Theatre recently presented “Sleeping Beauty” for the Seth W. Ahlborn Performing Arts and Lecture Series (PALS) at Chesapeake Academy. This musical adaptation from the original story by Charles Perrault followed the plot of the traditional fairy tale but added delightful surprises and comic situations. The cast (above) brought the vocal talent with several throaty numbers eliciting spontaneous applause. And of course “the kiss” brought excited audience members to their feet. PALS will continue with Bright Star Theatre’s “Holidays Around the World” for ages 3 through grade 3 at 9:30 a.m. December 5. For reservations, contact Hilary Scott, 438-5575, or hscott@chesapeakeacademy.org. PALS programming is funded by the Wiley Foundation with support from the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
