Smith wins RPRC pistol speed event

Tom Smith won the Rappahannock Pistol and Rifle Club annual centerfire pistol speed event July 8 at the club’s range in White Stone.

The NRA Action Pistol competition consists of five 8-inch steel plates shot from 15 yards, reported Mike Loser. The competitors must knock down the plates using a maximum of six shots. If all plates fall, the time is recorded as the competitor’s score. Failure to knock down all plates garners a five second per plate penalty.

The competition is run with three stages of two strings—left to right, then right to left.
