Steamboat Era Museum plans big weekend

The Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington, is gearing up for a great weekend August 11 and 12.

On Friday, the museum will host the third annual Captain’s Table Dinner. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Costumed docents will lead small groups on tours of the museum, while guests enjoy wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres under a tent on the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington, reported executive director Barbara Brecher. Pianist David Graham will entertain during the reception.

Following a three course dinner, singer, composer and keyboardist Ken Sparks will present a special concert highlighting many of his original compositions celebrating the Northern Neck and the Chesapeake Bay.

Tickets are $65 and may be purchased at the museum, or 438-6888.

On Saturday, the museum will host the sixth annual Irvington Crab Festival at the Irvington Commons. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and crabs, furnished by Crabs Express, will be served at 5 p.m.
