WHITE STONE—Stuart Thomas Bray Jr., 69, fondly known as Tom, passed away peacefully at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News on July 15, 2024, due to complications of cancer. He was born in Richmond on November 12, 1954, and spent his youth in Lewisburg, W.Va., later residing in Deltaville and Lancaster County.
Tom was the beloved son of Stuart Thomas and Ellen Christine Bray of Richmond. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Bray of Richmond; his brother, Robert Bray and sister-in-law, Ann Bray of Lewisburg; his sister, Catherine Bray of Wellington, Fla.; and his sister, Sally Bray of Lewisburg. He also leaves behind his niece, Sarah Stack of Ft. Lauderdale, Fa., and his nephew Peter Stack of New York, N.Y.
He had a deep passion for boating on the Chesapeake Bay and riding motorcycles, which brought him immense joy and peace.
A private memorial service will be held at historic Christ Church in Weems to celebrate Tom’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a cancer research charity of your choice.
