LANCASTER—Lancaster supervisors on Thursday, February 26, reviewed the traffic improvement options for application by the county to the Virginia Department of Transportation’s SMART SCALE program for funding. They also reviewed preferred solutions by the Kilmarnock Town Council (KTC) for intersections that lie within town boundaries.
“In cases where the town lies within the county jurisdiction, the county must make the request for VDOT to pursue the preferred alternatives on behalf of the town. As such, the Town of Kilmarnock has reviewed the intersections included in the study that are within the town limits,” said director of planning and land use Olivia Hall.
The recommendations are the result of two project studies—Route 3 and Route 200 corridors—as part of the Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions Program, designed to develop solutions to address congestion and safety on roadways.
