Sussex Central defeats Lancaster, 24-20

Sussex Central scored the winning touchdown on a 25-yard pass with just over a minute to play Friday, September 6, to prevail 24-20 over Lancaster High School in varsity football.

The Red Devils are now 1-1 with a bye this week before a home opener September 20 against Middlesex.

After a scoreless first quarter, host Sussex found the end zone twice early in the second quarter for a 12-0 lead before Zaden Veney scored back-to-back on runs of seven and 15 yards to tie the game at 12-12. The Devils took a two-point lead into the locker room after a two-point conversion….
