KILMARNOCK—Sylvia Ann Betts “Dip” Sutton of Kilmarnock died February 25.
She was born May 12, 1949, to the late John Robert Betts and the late Estelle Marie Jones Betts.
Sylvia was educated in Northumberland County Public Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Heathsville and later studied with Jehovah’s Witness.
She worked in the seafood industry and for many years as a housekeeper at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury and at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Shawn Sutton; her husband, William Arthur Sutton; her parents; three brothers, Julius, Harrison and James Betts; and sister, Adell Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter Cynethia (Tyrone) Davis of Kilmarnock; sons, Terrell of Abbeville, La., and Kendall of Kilmarnock; a grandson, Kelvin Davis Jr., four step-grandchildren, Avelia, Avelio, Amanya and Amore; two sisters, Catherine Lopez of La Plata, Md., and Constance Rice of Kilmarnock; and a brother, Raymond Betts of Richmond.
A funeral was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Campbell Funeral Home, Kilmarnock.
