The Island Church holds brunch

This boat centerpiece/model at The Island Church depicts Mildred, named for Capt. Alan Hinson’s great aunt. Gilbert White of Goat Island built Mildred in 1927 for William Hinson, Capt. Alan Hinson’s great-grandfather. Mildred was used in the pound net fishery her whole career. The boat model was restored by William Fitchett’s son, Larry Fitchett, in 2009.

On Sunday, December 4, The Island Church celebrated their many blessings at a monthly brunch.

Held on first Sundays, this developing tradition is a great way to celebrate fellowship and the church’s success, notably the most recent and successful clam chowder fundraiser, reported Jo Manson.

As a result of their first fundraiser, the church raised over $3,000 to help repair the historic church buildings. Special appreciation goes to all….
