The Island Church offers Blessing of the Fleet

On Sunday, May 5, The Island Church conducted a Blessing of the Fleet ceremony, a centuries-old tradition originating in Southern European fishing communities, reported Jo Manson. The ceremony recognized active watermen and those who serve as captains, engineers and spotter pilots for the Omega Protein Fleet. The ceremony also recognized those who are retired or deceased.

At the conclusion of the service, pastor Mark Boswell offered the following prayer in memory of those present, past and in memory of watermen everywhere.
