Three years and pending: Motions related to Hooper case set for Circuit Court

LANCASTER—Retired Judge Charles Poston of Virginia Beach will decide next week whether Lancaster County Commonwealth’s Attorney Anthony G. Spencer will remain as prosecutor in an involuntary manslaughter case.

According to Lancaster County Circuit Court Clerk Diane Mumford, Judge Poston may act on several motions Thursday, September 10, at 2 p.m. in Lancaster County Circuit Court, one of which is whether to disqualify Spencer from the case against John Randolph “Rand” Hooper of Richmond.

Hooper is charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter and failure to render aid in the death of his friend, Graham McCormick of Atlanta. It’s been just over three years since McCormick’s body was found…
