KILMARNOCK—The Kilmarnock Town Council on July 16 unanimously (6-0) appointed Tom Jones, former president of the Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department, to the planning commission.
His appointment came to council as a recommendation from the administration/finance committee.
“I suggest we appoint the person with the longest knowledge, with the greatest knowledge of the town’s past and that’s going to be Tom Jones,” said council member Les Spivey at a recent meeting of the committee. “A lot of people on the planning commission now are not long term residents.
