Lancaster stopped the clock in the second quarter against Colonial Beach on Thursday, February 10, to recognize a monumental accomplishment by a young player.
After drilling his third three-pointer of the night early in the outing, freshman Troy Henderson was recognized for hitting his 70th three-pointer of the season, a goal his coaches had set for him. He continued to hit from the cheap seats, drilling five three-pointers in the outing to score 21 points and help lead Lancaster to an 83-38 win over Colonial Beach, in what turned out to be the Red Devils final varsity basketball game of the regular season.
Lancaster was scheduled to end regular season play Monday night against Northumberland but that game was canceled and could not be rescheduled before Region 1A tournament play begins next week. The Devils, with a 19-1 overall record and undefeated 9-0 Northern Neck District mark, enters the postseason as a high seed and will host a regional quarterfinal Monday, February 21.
