IRVINGTON—Drivers in Irvington may begin to decrease their speed as more visual deterrents are set to appear in the near future.
During a Thursday, September 10, council meeting, Mary Windsor Cline on behalf of the public safety committee shared that measures had been put in place to secure two speed feedback signs if council decided to authorize the purchase.
The feedback signs would be purchased from the county and would address speeding concerns along King Carter Drive.
During public comment, June McGeorge had asked council to consider placing the feedback signs on both ends of Irvington Road.
Cline later responded that for now the focus is King Carter Drive, but they will be working to address Irvington Road soon as well. The speed signs will collect data. The next steps upon authorization of the purchase is determining exact location as well as obtaining all necessary permits from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
According to the resolution, the purchase and installation of the two signs shall not exceed a total of $10,000. The funds should come from the capital projects budget for….
