Trial on public nuisance concerning pigs delayed

LANCASTER—Friday, July 14, was supposed to be the day for a bench trial presided over by Judge R. Michael McKenney in Lancaster Circuit Court. Instead, defendant Janice Baylor’s July 10 request for a jury trial has thrown another delay into any resolution of the problem pigs that Iberis Road neighbors have been seeking.

Neighbors filed nearly 40 complaints in Lancaster County General District Court regarding loose animals on the highway since 2021 but saw little improvement in the situation. Then in December 2022 seven neighbors filed a complaint in Lancaster County Circuit Court to have the situation declared a public nuisance.
