Kilmarnock awards $11.9 million for waste water treatment project

KILMARNOCK—Town council on Monday, July 17, awarded Southwood Building Systems Inc. an $11.9 million contract as the lowest bidder for Kilmarnock’s Waste Water Treatment Plant 2.0 Project.

According to town manager Susan Cockrell, over $9 million has already been identified for the project through grants and loans, including $2 million of grant money. The project, in the works for several years, is beginning to make headway with the awarding of the contract.
