Last year, Trinity Episcopal Church offered an opportunity for people to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday from their car, by using the new Drive-Through Ashes at Trinity’s Pavilion, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster.
Pastor Megan Limburg noted “we really had no idea how many people might show up last year. We were delighted to welcome dozens of people, both from our church and others from the larger community. Some folks had schedules that kept them from attending an Ash Wednesday service, others had never received ashes and were curious, deciding the drive-through was a good way to receive and learn.”
Thus, a new tradition was born and Trinity Church invites the community again to “Drive-Through Ashes” from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday, February 22. Folks are invited to take the drive-through road, stopping to receive ashes while in their car and a moment of prayer. All are welcome, children and adults.
