Rewilding landscapes
The Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will present “Rewilding our Landscapes” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, by Zoom. Landscape designer Susan Abraham will focus on using native plants to restore landscapes. To register, email Betsy Washington at [email protected]. A brief business meeting will precede the program.
St. Patrick’s Day Dinner
American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville will serve a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 19. The menu will include corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, rolls and drinks.

New exhibit
March is National Women’s History Month, so the Essex County Museum has chosen 10 extraordinary women from Essex County and the Middle Peninsula to honor in a new exhibit.
“Extraordinary Women” will open at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the Essex County Museum, 218 Water Lane, Tappahannock.

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society “Attic Treasures and Great Garage Finds” virtual estate sale will be held March 22-29 at bigredauctions.hibid.com and anyone can bid.
Author event
The Friends of the Library of Rappahannock Community College will host a Spring Author Event and Book Signing from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at RCC, 52 Campus Drive, Warsaw.
Pam Sandbridge will speak about the cookbook, Driftwood. She will tell the history of the Driftwood Restaurant at Coles Point, the seafood restaurant run by her mother, Ruth, and her stepfather, Joe McCoy.
Books Alive
Northumberland Public Library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will host a Books Alive event from 5-7 p.m. March 24. Leaving a Legacy in Written Words will feature authors Gail Wilson Kenna, Illona Duncan and Susan Moore, who will discuss their books which explore three different historical periods.
Light appetizers and wine will be served. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Northumberland Public Library.
Colonial crafts
Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will host an 18th century carpentry demonstration from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 25. Apprentice carpenter Harold Caldwell of Colonial Williamsburg will lead the demonstration in Stratford Hall’s 1738 workshop.

Gardening seminar
The Gardening in the Northern Neck seminar, “In Your Own Backyard,” will be held March 25 at the White Stone Church of the Nazarene, 57 Whisk Drive, White Stone. Speakers will be Heather Holm, Barbara Pleasant and Edward Olsen.

Lee ladies
Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will host Commemorating the Lives: Women’s History Day from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 25, featuring the self-guided audio tour, Leading Ladies: The Lee Women of Stratford Hall.

Tribute concert
Blood, Sweat & Years, a Blood Sweat and Tears tribute concert, will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. March 25 at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

DNA 101
DNA 101: An Introduction to Genetic Genealogy will be the subject of a talk by Bessida Cauthorne White at 4 p.m. March 26. Sponsored by the Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society, the talk will take place at the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse, 877 General Puller Highway, Saluda.
The public is invited to attend this free event. A DNA resource handout will be distributed.
HCW crafting
Historyland Community Workshop currently meets at 10 a.m. first and third Mondays at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
The group works on individual and group crafts and enjoys the fellowship of each other in preparation for an annual sale. Proceeds from the sale support scholarships for Lancaster and Northumberland students and local libraries. New members are welcome.
Spring training
Historic Christ Church & Museum (HCC&M) will host its annual spring training for new and returning volunteers March 28-30. HCC&M invites anyone interested in volunteering or who wants to learn about Christ Church to attend.
The program will begin each morning with coffee and refreshments at 8:30 a.m. followed by training sessions from 9 a.m.-noon. Speakers will address ongoing projects, architectural literacy, indigenous populations and Christ Church history.
Caregivers
Commonwealth Senior Living at Kilmarnock will host “Coping Techniques for Caregivers” from 5:30-7 p.m. April 13 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
