“Sylvia” by A.R. Gurney continues at the Westmoreland Players, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao, through May 21. Performances will will begin at 7:30 p.m. May 12, 13 and 19; and 3 p.m. May 14, 20 and 21.

Community league

The Bluff Point Community League, 2595 Bluff Point Road, Kilmarnock, will host a potluck dinner on Monday, May 15. Social time will begin at 6 p.m. and the dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Bring a dish to share. All are welcome.

Macey White, owner of the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club in Hartfield, is the after-dinner speaker.  He will talk about the croquet facility and different types of croquet.

Chicken dinners

Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.

Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.

Trustees meeting

The Northumberland Public Library (NPL) board of trustees will hold its bi-monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at NPL, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. The public may attend in person or via Zoom. For the link to join electronically, visit nplibraryva.org or call 580-5051.

Books Alive

The Friends of Northumberland Public Library (NPL) will host a Books Alive event from 5-7 p.m. May 19 at NPL, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.

The event will feature author Arthur Newman, who will discuss his newest novel, Doing Business as Kevin Templeton, in addition to previous titles.

CPR training

Beulah Baptist Church, Lively, Health & Wellness Ministry will hold CPR training at 9:30 a.m. May 20. Get trained-save a life!

This is a free training event with a certified instructor, leading to certification. Registration required, contact Rev. Jackie Veney, 925-7073.

Soul Expressions

Music on the Half Shell will feature Soul Expressions on May 26 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Gates will open at 6 p.m. The show will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is by season subscription, or $10.

Musical slated June 2-18

The Lancaster Players box office is now open for ticket sales for “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” opening June 2 at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Performances are 8 p.m. on June 2-3, 8-10 and 16-17; and 3 p.m. on June 4, 11 and 18.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at lancasterplayers.org, or 435-3776. The theater will open an hour before show times with complimentary snack plates and a cash bar.
