Chamberfest

The Northern Neck Orchestra’s Chamberfest will present “Music from France, Denmark and Sweden” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone; and “Music for Flute, Piano and Strings” at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.

Tickets for each concert are $30 and may be purchased at the door or www.northernneckorchestra.org. 

Seafood dinners

The Northumberland County Community Center Organization, 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville, will hold a crab cake and fish dinner from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, June 23. To order, call James Long, 724-3240 or Irvin Nickens, 480-0369. For delivery, call Long.

The menu will include crab cake and fish combo dinner, $18; crab cake dinner, $16; fish dinner, $14; crab cake sandwich, $10; fish sandwich, $8. Dinners include cole slaw, fries, drink and dessert. 

Flag-waving concert

The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Concert Band will perform a flag-waving concert July 1 on the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

Concert sponsor Chesapeake Bank will offer free hot dogs, chips and desserts from 5:30-6:45 p.m. The concert, presented by the Village Improvement Association, will start at 7 p.m. 

Shish kebabs

The Cooks Squad will serve a shish kebab mixed grill take-out dinner from noon-2:30 p.m. July 8 at the Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad Building, 7990 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. The menu will include chicken kebab, beef kebab, Italian sausage, rice, grilled summer vegetables, tomato-cucumber salad and cowboy cookies.

Music by the River

The Music by the River concert series will continue July 8 with Magnolia Blues Jazz Band, 41st U.S. Army Band, and July 29 with Black Cat Murphy. The concerts will begin at 6 p.m. at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster.

Picnics are welcome. A limited number of picnic tables will be available. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. The show is free; however, there is a $5 parking fee payable at the park entrance.

History discussion

The Historic Christ Church & Museum (HCC&M) Readers will meet at 9:30 a.m. July 18 in the Chase conference room on the HCC&M Campus, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.
