Wytheville lynching
Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society (MPAAGHS) will hold a virtual meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9. Author John M. Johnson will talk about his book, A Death Mob Gathered: The Lynching of Raymond Arthur Byrd. Johnson spent more than 30 years researching the lynching of Byrd on August 15, 1926, in Wytheville.

Annual meeting
The Northumberland Public Library board of trustees will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at NPL, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. The board will install new officers and say farewell to outgoing members, including president James Russell.

Metal sculptor
A Special Evening With…metal sculpture artist John Latell will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Wicomico Forge in Weems. Attendees will see completed sculptures and artwork, as well as in-process works.

Poker Run
Registration is underway for the Northern Neck Rotary Club’s second Poker Run on the Water July 16. There will be seven checkpoints along the Rappahannock River.

Concert bus
The Kilmarnock Museum will sponsor a bus trip November 5 to see the Rhonda Vincent Show at the Old Dominion Barn Dance, Beacon Theater, Hopewell. The bus will depart the Chesapeake Commons parking lot at approximately noon.
Tickets are $110 each and include transportation, show admission, snacks on the bus and a special appearance by several performers on the bus following the show. For tickets, call 462-7608 or 296-0930.
