
LANCASTER—Captain E. Daniel “Dan” Bashore of Lancaster passed away on March 22, 2022, at the age of 92.
Dan was born in Columbia, S.C..
He was predeceased by his parents Allan and Sara Bashore; brother, Allan Bashore; and daughter, Jacqueline.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Eremenko; daughters, Elizabeth Osman and Debra (Bruce) Feldman; and grandson, Zachery Osman.
A graduate of Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy. Dan spent a number of years as a merchant seaman sailing the Atlantic with voyages extending to Norway, Middle East, Mediterranean and South Africa. On release from Merchant ships, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for the Department of the Navy and the Naval Reserve.
Dan retired and moved to the Northern Neck settling on the Corrotoman River. Here he spent his time enjoying his retirement watching nature, hunting and sailing.
Dan was a deep sea diver and made many enjoyable trips to Australia’s Barrier Reef, New Zealand, New Guinea and various sites in the Caribbean.
Dan donated his body to science and there will be no service.
