Opera highlights

Capitol Opera, Richmond, will present highlights from Monteverdi’s “Coronation of Poppea” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock. The opera will be sung in Italian, with English subtitles.

Tickets are available at Capitoloperarichmond.com or at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Children will be admitted free.

Daisy Crazy

The Woman’s Club of White Stone will host a Daisy Crazy Fashion Show Luncheon at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 28, followed by an afternoon of games at the WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. 

Proceeds will benefit the club’s financial need-based scholarship fund for Lancaster County students attending Rappahannock Community College. The fee is $30 per person. For reservations contact Wanda Little at  [email protected] or 436-7144.

Concert series

The 2022 Music by the River  concert series continues at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. A $5 parking fee is payable at the park entrance.

The schedule includes RTC Band, August 13; Southern Grace, August 20; and Patsy & the Country Classics, September 3. Concerts begin at 6 p.m.

Chicken dinners

Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville. Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink

Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.

Family camp

Stratford Hall, 485 Great House Road, Stratford, will host Family Fun Camp August 5-7. This event includes a 2-night, 3-day package with meals, lodging and activities. Pre-registration is required.

Family Fridays

Stratford Hall, 485 Great House Road, Stratford, will host Family First Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. August 5. The event offers archaeology and paleontology experiences, material culture, games and demonstrations. Lunch also will be available for purchase from local food truck, Daddy’s Baby BBQ beginning at 11 a.m.

Tickets are $15 for ages 14 and older, $10 for ages 6-13, and free for ages 5 and younger. Purchase advance tickets at stratfordhall.org.
