Yard sale & barbecue
The Northumberland Lions Club will hold a yard sale and barbeque from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, August 8, at Heathsville Methodist Church, 39 Courthouse Road, Heathsville. The Lions Club provides medical equipment, eye and hearing exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids for those in financial need. It also supports our many food pantries and community events.
Street dance
A street dance to raise funds for the Callao Hometown Community Park will be held from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, August 8, at the Callao Ruritan Lot, 185 Ruritan Lane, Callao. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by En’Novation Band, reported Callao Hometown Community Association president Lisa Deitz.
Food and drink will be available for purchase. Event tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and younger. Purchase tickets at Callao Supply Company, Van Land Realty, A New Bloom, Fawn’s Cafe, Callao Brewing Company and County Line Market.
Music by the River
The 2026 Music by the River summer concert series will continue August 8 at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. The concert will feature The Windbags from 6-8 p.m in the picnic area. On August 15, Ramona & The Holy Smokes will be the featured band.
Historic structures
For residences over 50 years old, there are aspects of the home’s construction and history that qualify it for special attention. The Middlesex County Museum will host a related informational meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 9, at the historic County Courthouse, 877 General Puller Highway, Saluda.
Joanna McKnight of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources will explain the designations within the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places, including available preservation resources. Beekeepers
The Northern Neck Beekeepers Club meets at 7 p.m. on second Mondays at Heathsville United Methodist Church, 39 Courthouse Road, Heathsville.
Drinking Habits
The Westmoreland Players will present “Drinking Habits” at The Westmoreland Players Theatre, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. Performances are slated at 7:30 p.m. August 14, 15, 21, 22 and 28; and 3 p.m. August 16, 23, 29 and 30.

Jazz4Justice
A Jazz4Justice concert will be held at 7 p.m. August 22 at Northumberland High School, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville. Hosted by the Northern Neck Bar Association, the concert will support legal aid services for families in need.

Bingo Night
The Woman’s Club of White Stone will host Bingo Night on third Fridays at the WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and games will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The fee is $20 for 15 sheets with three cards per sheet. Additional sheet sets are $15 each. Cash prizes will be awarded.
Games & Crafts Day
The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County will host Games & Crafts Day from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on last Mondays at the WCMC Clubhouse, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg. Guests enjoy bridge, mahjong or bring a craft project.
The fee is $10, including lunch. No appointment is necessary, no supplies provided for craft projects.
Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 4:30-6 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.
Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $14 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
Kekoka Yoga Retreat
The 17th annual Kekoka Yoga Retreat will take place September 18-20 at YMCA/APYC Camp Kekoka in Kilmarnock. The theme will be “Empower.”

Music festival
The eighth annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. September 12 and 13 on Town Hill in Colonial Beach. Participants can expect dancing, food, beverages and raffles. Saturday music will include Feature Attraction Band (FAB) and The Chris Sacks Band. Sunday music will include River Rock and Band of Oz.
