Post meetings

American Legion Adams Post #86 will meet at 7 p.m. on third Tuesdays at the Post Home, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock. The ladies auxiliary also will meet at the same time.

MWM crab feast

The Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will hold a crab feast from 4-6 p.m. September 10. Bring picking tools. Other food will be available.

RGC anniversary

The Rappahannock Garden Club (RGC) is celebrating its 60-year anniversary on September 8 at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock.

Among the many festivities members and guests will enjoy, RGC will hold a huge yard sale including artisanal crafts, plants, jewelry and baked goods. The public is welcome at 1 p.m.

Woman’s club

The Woman’s Club of White Stone will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, at WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. A program will follow at 11:30 a.m.

The speaker will be Lisa Valdrighi, an award-winning reporter with the Rappahannock Record. The public is invited; contact Amy Haines at 690-8763.

On Stage

Subscriptions are still available for the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts 29th On Stage season at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. Shows include Larry Carlton, September 10; The Whiskey Rebellion, October 27; Broadway’s Next Hit Musical, November 19; and Jose Feliciano, December 17.

Music festival

The Colonial Beach Community Foundation will host the fourth annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival September 10, featuring The Embers, The Feature Attraction band, Motown Butta and Craig Jennings, on Town Hill in Colonial Beach.

Chorale rehearsal

The Chesapeake Chorale will hold a rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. September 12 at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 South Main Street, Kilmarnock to prepare for a three concert Christmas season.

Programs are scheduled for 8 p.m. December 2 at Northumberland High School, 8 p.m. December 3 at Lancaster Middle School, 3 p.m. December 4 at St. Clare Walker Middle School and 3 p.m. December 5 at Historic Christ Church.

Chicken dinners

Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville. However, the monthly dinner will be held September 12 due to the Labor Day holiday.

Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.

Boots and barbecue

 Northern Neck Land Conservancy will host Boots and Barbecue from 1-4 p.m. September 17 at Waterloo Farm in King George. The event will offer exhibitors and demonstrations, barbecue, fried oysters, music and good company.

The $50 ticket price supports Northern Neck Land Conservancy’s mission and includes event access, parking, buffet, beer and wine. Tickets are available at nnconserve.org or, 250-2334.

Wine and oysters

Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will host its fall Wine & Oyster Festival from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. September 17 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. September 18. Tasting tickets are $35 for adults, non-tasting $25, ages 7-12 $10 and free for ages 6 and younger.

The event will feature tastings from Virginia wineries, as well as coastal oysters, food trucks, breweries, cideries, artisans, car shows and kids zone. Purchase tickets at stratfordhall.org.
