Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Glen Bohlke, of Irvington; three children, Kecia (Kia) Ware of Tappahannock and her husband, Ned; Todd Bohlke of Virginia Beach and his wife, Nicole; and Brent Bohlke of San Diego, California, and his partner, Danielle Hargis; one sister, April Moore, her husband, Andrew Schmookler of Orkney Springs, and their children, Nathaniel Schmookler of Nashville, Tennessee, Terra Schmookler Fuhr of San Diego, California, and Aaron Schmookler of Rainier, Washington; one granddaughter, Catesby Rose Ware of Tappahannock; and one devoted cat, Darcy.

A winner of multiple gold medals in the regional Senior Olympics, Tanya also enjoyed exercise, travel, knitting, sewing, quilting and many other crafts. A burial service will be held at noon Saturday, September 3, at Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 North Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 4, in the auditorium at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.

Tanya was a champion for the rights of animals, children, women, immigrants and disadvantaged groups. Her family asks that you consider making a memorial donation to a charity supporting one of these groups or to the RWC Christmas Fund to honor Tanya’s spirit and memory.

The family also thanks the wonderful staff of RWC, Hospice of Virginia and Dr. Joseph Bessler for their outstanding care and compassion during this time.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
