Shuck-It-Bucket

Chesapeake Academy, 107 Steamboat Road, Irvington, will hold a Shuck-It Bucket, oyster-roast-to-go event, from 4-6 p.m. October 10. The $60 bucket will include a steamer pot filled with shelled and raw oysters, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes and a spice kit.

Paint night

RAL Art Center, 19a North Main Street, Kilmarnock, will hold a “Mystery Paint Night” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 24. Attendees will complete an acrylic painting on a stretched canvas. The subject matter will be revealed that night.

Instructor and artist Doug Mock will lead the class. Bring a favorite beverage, snacks and mask. To register, call 436-9309.

Hay bale contest

The annual Hay Bale Decorating Contest sponsored by the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Women’s Leadership Committee has begun. Applications will be accepted through November 1.

Guidelines and an entry form are available at bit.ly/2Z6gyMw. Cash awards will be presented for best promotional display for agriculture business or commodity, best promotional display for community spirit, most creative, best agricultural theme and best agribusiness, FFA, 4-H or school display.

Market Day

Wicomico Parish Market Day will be held from 8 a.m.-noon, October 10 at Wicomico Parish Episcopal Church, 5191 Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Highway, Wicomico Church.

Items for sale will include baked goods, furniture, household items, sporting goods, boating equipment, DVDs and tools.

Garden walk

The Bulb Shoppe and Gardens at Brent and Becky’s, 7900 Daffodil Lane, Gloucester, will host a Fall Blooming Bulbs Garden Walk at 10 a.m. September 26.

As summer fades to fall, see how fall blooming bulbs and grasses begin to take over the garden show.  Learn how to plant now for color this fall and many years to come.

The Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board’s Prevention, Health and Wellness Division will offer Youth Mental Health First Aid Training from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. October 7 and 8.
