Black Cat Murphy
The Music on the Half Shell Stage, Black Cat Murphy concert initially scheduled September 22 was postponed to Thursday, September 28, from 7-9:30 p.m. at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Admission is by season pass or individual show tickets, $10 each. Tickets will be sold at kilmarnockva.ticketleap.com and at the door.
Caregiver support
A caregiver support session will be held from 2-3 p.m. today, September 28, at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 South Main Street, Kilmarnock. Christine Slavin, CSL marketing director and a former caregiver, will present Coping Techniques for Caregivers.

Fashion show
The local chapter of Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) will present a fashion show from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, September 28, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 435 East Church Street, Kilmarnock. A small plate of refreshments is included with admission. The $25 fee will go directly to support PEO. Master Gardeners
The Northern Neck Master Gardeners 2024 Extension Master Gardener training will be held Tuesday and Thursday mornings, February 13-April 11 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Heathsville.

Family reunion

Fun & Games BBQ
The Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville will hold a “Fun & Games” BBQ fundraiser from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, September 30. The menu will include pulled pork, chicken and sausage, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, appetizers, desserts and soft drinks. Beer and wine will be sold separately.
Games will include cornhole and badminton; Hard to Tell will provide the music. The fee is $35. Tickets are available at the Tavern Gift Shoppe from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or www.rhhtfoundationinc.org.
Basic Gardening
The Northern Neck Master Gardeners will present a Basic Gardening course from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 30, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. The topic will be Everything Else: Maintenance; Resources; Vegetable Gardening and Shoreline Issues.

It Takes All Types
The Bay Center will offer It Takes All Types, a workshop series on psychological type and temperament. Topics include Basics of Type, October 4; Basics of Temperament, October 11; Relating to Children, October 18; In the Classroom, October 25; Partners and Friends, November 1; and Career, November 8.

Fall festival
The Friends of Belle Isle State Park, in partnership with the Northern Neck Master Naturalists, will host a Fall Festival from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. October 7 at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster.
There will be wagon rides, pumpkin carving ($3), games, prizes and s’mores.
Fall lecture
The Middlesex County Museum will host a fall fundraising event from 2-4 p.m. October 8 at Rosegill, 1824 Urbanna Road, Urbanna. The speaker will be Theodore McCord. He will address a December 29, 1741, wedding that brought together the Grymes and Page families.

Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mon days at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville. Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of veg etables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
Chorale season
Chesapeake Chorale rehearsals for 2023 Christmas concerts will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Mondays through mid-November at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Oyster roast
Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will host its 14th annual Oyster Roast from 3-5 p.m. October 14. Roasted oysters, sides and desserts included. Yoga retreat
Registration has begun for InsideOut Yoga’s (IOY) retreat in the Penedès Mountains near Barcelona, Spain, April 25-May 3 (Session 1) and May 4-12 (Session 2), 2024. “Peak Moments” will take place at Can Vital, a private, eco-friendly property nestled in the Penedès, a wine-growing region 90 minutes from Barcelona.
