Barbecue dinner
The Kiwanis Club of the Northern Neck will serve a take-out barbecue dinner Thursday, November 5, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 435 East Church Street, Kilmarnock. The menu will include pulled barbecue, rolls, baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, dessert and beverages.
The first serving will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; the second, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth younger than 12 and free for children younger than 5. Tickets also may be purchased at the door.
Support Historyland
Community workshop
Historyland Community Workshop will participate in the Irvington Farmers Market from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington.
They will have pies, tea breads, cookies, and preserves. Also, there will be handcrafted items such as; quilted runners, miniature decorated plaques and shadow box rooms, wreaths and Christmas ornaments. All proceeds go to high school scholarships for Lancaster and Northumberland students.
Woman’s club
The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County will gather at noon Tuesday, November 10, at the WCNC Clubhouse, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg. The meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Oyster roast
“Oysters To-Go-Go!” will be held from 2-5 p.m. November 14 in the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum/church parking lot, 504 Main Street, Reedville. The drive-thru menu will include either a dozen roasted oysters, cole slaw and a cookie for $25 per meal or an oyster po’boy sandwich kit, cole slaw, and a cookie for $20 per meal. Patrons may add a dozen roasted oysters for $10 a dozen. Extra po’boy kits are $10 per sandwich.

For mail–in orders, include a check made out to “RFM” and a stamped, self-addressed return envelope so the Museum staff can mail tickets. Include with the order, the number and type of meals and extras, plus intended time of pick-up.
Barbecue carryout
The American Legion Adams Post 86 and Ladies Auxiliary will host a carry-out barbecue from 4-6 p.m. November 14, at the Post, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock. Wear a mask and pay at the door.
The menu will include pulled pork barbecue by the pound, $10 per pound and/or pulled pork sandwiches to go, $5 each. Coleslaw and barbecue sauce will be available to go with the sandwiches. Drinks will be available for $1 each.
