Lighted boat parade

The Lights on the Creek boat parade will be held Saturday, November 28. Boats will gather near the Rappahannock River Yacht Club docks at dusk.

The parade will pass The Tides Inn as they navigate the Western Branch of Carter Creek, make a U-turn and again pass The Tides Inn into the Eastern Branch of the Creek. To join this holiday procession, email [email protected].

Virtual history

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s “Zooming In On Lancaster County History: Thursdays at 3:00” virtual speaker series will continue at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 3. Denise Mayck will present “My Grandmother, the Midwife.”

CASA wreaths

Northern Neck CASA wreaths will be available for pick up at the former Blue Water Seafood Store at Chesapeake Commons in Kilmarnock from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 3; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. both Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5.

Wreaths also will be available for pick up from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. December 5 at SonaBank in Burgess and Town Park in Warsaw.

Festival of the Trees

The Northern Neck Family YMCA’s 23rd annual Festival of the Trees will be a virtual event on December 5. The theme will be “Silver Linings.” There will be a silent auction, a live auction and a fund-a-need auction.

Tickets are not required to Zoom into the virtual event, but tickets are available with special swag bags. Tickets are $50 per person. To serve as an event sponsor, secure the Zoom links, or purchase tickets, call 435-0223 or email [email protected].

Tavern fare

Historic Christ Church & Museum (HCC&M), 420 Christ Church Road, Weems, will host “Colonial Tavern Fare” from 2-4 p.m. December 6. The drive-thru, pick-up menu will include a salad of greens, roasted vegetables and chèvre served with a sherry vinaigrette; biscuits and butter; harvest pie and a choice of three entrees: beef burgundy, smoked pork loin with apple-sausage stuffing, or crab and corn ragout (gluten/dairy free).

Tickets are $30 per meal. Tickets are available at ChristChurch1735.ticketleap.com/colonial-tavern-fare or the foundation office at 420 Christ Church Road.

Christmas chili

The Woman’s Club of White Stone will sell chili by the quart for $12. Call 435-0441 or 435-3046. If leaving a message, state the quantity desired and a phone number for confirmation.

Drive-by pick-up will be offered from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. December 12 at the WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.

Oyster dinner

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department will hold a drive-thru oyster dinner from 5-8 p.m. December 14, at the White Stone Firehouse, 579 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.

The menu will include fried oysters, green beans, coleslaw and hush puppies. Tickets are $20 and are available from any WSVFD member. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Wine Down

Good Luck Cellers, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock, recently announced Friday Night Wine Downs will continue through November under a provisional, outdoor, covered pavilion.

The Wine Downs, from 5-8 p.m., will feature a food truck and music by Bob Wilson. Guests may bring a picnic or order from the food truck on-site from 5-7:30 p.m. Music is from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
