Show postponed
Due to a recent destructive fire at 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck announced the postponement of the Original Rhondels’ concert initially scheduled for December 8, until a yet-to-be-determined date.
Meanwhile, all transactions for tickets and table reservations will be reimbursed. Those who do not hear from the club by November 30 are requested to contact mcobb@bgcnn.com, or call 435-9696.

CASA wreaths
The Fraser fir wreaths that have been ordered from Northern Neck CASA will be available for pick up from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, November 29, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1, at the Courtyard at Chesapeake Commons, 463 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Oysters & Oldies
The 12th annual Oysters & Oldies Christmas Oyster Roast will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 1 at Roanoke Farm, 6108 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.
Tickets are $30, ages 11 and younger eat free. Tickets may be purchased at St. Stephen’s Thrift Shop, 6853 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, or oysters.ststephensheathsville.org.

Community tree
Wicomico United Methodist Church will sponsor a Community Tree Lighting Service at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 1.
Tommy Thompson will sing Christmas music to ring in the season. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served after the program.

Community Chorus
The Community Chorus will present “The Night Before Christmas” Sunday, December 2, at Warsaw Baptist Church, 226 Main Street, Warsaw, and Sunday, December 9, at Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church, 345 Earl Street, Tappahannock.
Both concerts will begin at 3 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Auditions
The Lancaster Players will conduct auditions for “The Savannah Sipping Society” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, and Wednesday, December 5, at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Rehearsals will begin January 7. The play will be staged March 8-23.
The cast features four middle-aged women. All types/colors/ethnicities urged to try-out. Character descriptions can be obtained at office@lancasterplayers.org. Scripts will be provided at the audition.

Master Gardener
orientation session
The Northern Neck Master Gardeners will hold an orientation from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
The session will provide an overview of the 2019 Extension Master Gardener training program, January 15-March 26. To reserve a spot for the training program, call the Virginia Cooperative Extension office in Northumberland, 580-5694.

Christmas bazaar
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum annual Christmas bazaar will be held from 1-5 p.m. December 7 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. December 8 at American Legion Post 117 facilities at 39 School Street, Reedville.

Santa’s coming
Santa will visit Reedville December 8, arriving at 9 a.m. aboard the Elva C. Children of all ages are invited to greet Santa when he arrives at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum dock, 504 Main Street, Reedville, and then walk next door to Bethany UMC for pictures, Christmas stories, games and light refreshments.

House tour
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, will host the annual Christmas on Cockrell’s Creek House Tour December 8 and 9. The tour will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Five homes, a commercial site and museum facilities will be included. A Holiday Café and TableScapes will be featured at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville.
Tickets for the annual Christmas on Cockrell’s Creek House Tour will be available at 453-6529, or the RFM office in the Butler House. Tickets will be $25 per person in advance, or $30 during tour weekend.

Country breakfast
Lancaster Union Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. will serve an all-you-can-eat country breakfast from 7-10 a.m. December 8 at the Lodge, 48 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The fee is $10. Ages 5 and younger, uniformed military and law enforcement eat free.

Christmastide
Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will celebrate Christmastide from 4:30-8:30 p.m. December 8.
Tickets are $15 for ages 12 and older; $10 for ages 6-11, and free for ages 5 and younger. The event also is free for Friends of Stratford members. Tickets will be on sale the day of the event at the Visitor Center.

Winter Wonderland
The town of White Stone will ring in the holiday season with its annual Winter Wonderland Celebration from 4-7 p.m. December 8. There will be caroling, good cheer, food, hot drinks, tree lighting and photos with Santa, who will arrive with a police and fire escort around 5:30 p.m.

Tree lighting
Reedville’s community Christmas tree will be illuminated at 5:15 p.m. December 8 at the gazebo on the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum campus, 504 Main Street, Reedville.
The event will include hot chocolate and joyous singing led by the Fairfield UMC and the Bethany UMC choirs.

Ditchley holiday
The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society-Mary Ball Washington Museum & Library will host “A Holiday Afternoon at Ditchley” from 1-4 p.m. December 9, at Ditchley, 1571 Ditchley Road, Kilmarnock. The event will include house tours, cider tastings, wine, hors d’oeuvres and dessert treats.
Advance tickets are required and are available at www.mkt.com/maryball or 462-7280. The fee is $30 for members and $35 for others.

Music to start
the holidays
The Northumberland County Historical Society will begin the holiday season with a free performance by Bill and Pam Gurley at 2:30 p.m. December 9 at the Ball Memorial Library and Museum, 86 Back Street, Heathsville.
Following the program, refreshments will be served.

Lively parade
The Lively Christmas Parade will be held at 3 p.m. December 16. The grand marshal will be Karina Bolster from NBC12. The committee is still taking parade entries. Contact Connor Lord at the World Famous Corner, or 462-0110.

Ice Age
Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will offer an instructional event, Geo Series: Ice Age at Stratford Hall, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. December 15.

Ballet
Bayside Youth Ballet (BYB) will present their annual Christmas performance at 2 p.m. on December 16 at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium, Mathews High School, 9889 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 9 and younger. Tickets are available at Office Supply and Diggs School of Dance in Gloucester, the Mathews Visitor Center in Mathews or baysideballet@gmail.com. Tickets will also be available at the door.
