LHS Band concert

The Lancaster High School Band will present their winter concert at 7 p.m.  Friday, December 17 at Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

Due to COVID safety protocols, the theater has limited capacity. Tickets are free, but will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis on the night of the concert.

Seasonal musical

The musical “Sanders Family Christmas” continues at the Westmoreland Players Theater, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. The show will be staged at 7:30 p.m. December 17 and 18; and 3 p.m. December 19.

Admission is by season subscription or $30 adults, $17 students. Purchase tickets at 804-529-9345 or www.WestmorelandPlayers.org.

On Stage

The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts 2021-22 On Stage concert series will continue Saturday, December 18, with Sons of Serendip. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

Admission is by season subscription or single ticket, $45. For tickets, call the RFA at 804-438-5555. Individuals will then be placed on a “Will Call” list.

ULVRS chili

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad (ULVRS) recently announced a chili and cornbread fundraiser. The fee is $10 per quart. Send order including name, phone number and quantity of quarts with payment to P.O. Box 176, Lively, VA  22507.  Orders must be received by Wednesday, January 19 and can be picked up from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, January 29, at the ULVRS, 123 Norris Road, Lively, or call 804-269-1421.

Country breakfast

Lancaster Union Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. will serve an all-you-can-eat country breakfast from 7-10 a.m. on second Saturdays, at the Lodge, 48 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The fee is $10. Ages 8 and younger eat free.

The menu will include fluffy scrambled eggs (fried eggs on request), pancakes (blueberry and plain), biscuits, sausage gravy, sausage links, bacon, cheesy grits, home-fried potatoes, fried apples, warm syrup, fruit cocktail, coffee, tea, juice and milk. Orders to go available also.

Food drive

Historic Christ Church & Museum will serve as a drop off site for non-perishable food donations to the Healthy Harvest Food Bank.

Through Wednesday, December 22, the community is invited to take part in the annual food drive. Bringcanned goods and other non-perishables to Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
