RFM concert

Janie Meneely and Rob Van Sante will be featured from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Reedville Fishermen’s Museum (RFM), 504 Main Street, Reedville. The concert will benefit the skipjack Claud W. Somers.

Food and beverages will be sold. Admission is $20 for members or $25 for others. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.

Woman’s club

The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County (WCNC) will meet Tuesday, May 13, at the WCNC Clubhouse, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg. Doors will open at noon, the meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The speaker will be Master Gardener Sue Lindsey. She will discuss “Gardening in the 21st Century.” Muchies, desserts and beverages will be served.

Artist reception

A reception of exhibiting artist Walker Antonio will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Lancaster Community Library (LCL), 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

His newest series of paintings, “The Drama,” will continue through  May 31 at LCL.

History talk

Lindsay Chervinsky and Clay Jenkinson will present “Religious Liberty and the First Amendment” May 15 at Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. The event will begin at 4 p.m. with a cocktail reception. The discussion will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a light supper in the courtyard.

Benefit concert

An Armed Forces Day & Montross Military Appreciation Day Concert to benefit Wounded Warriors Project Rally Point will be held from noon-9 p.m. May 17 at Northern Neck Brewery, 15804 Kings Highway, Montross.

Music will be provided by One Day Remains, Faron Hamblin, Chauncey Fortune and Cougar Flash. There will be beer, food and vendors. Hosts also will include Magnum RV and The Greater Montross Partnership for Revitalization.

Diamonds & Denim

The Healthy Harvest Food Bank, 55 Commerce Drive, Warsaw, will host the annual Diamonds & Denim on May 17. The gala will open with a cocktail hour from 4-5 p.m., followed by dinner and dessert from 5-6 p.m., program and auction from 5:45-6:30 p.m. and dancing to The Haus Band from 6:30 into the night.

Preakness Party

The Rappahannock Community College (RCC) Educational Foundation will hold the 21st annual Preakness Party from 4-7 p.m. May 17 at Millmont in Wake. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, regional wines, cocktails, beer, non-alcoholic options, auctions, contests and viewing of the Preakness Stakes.

RCA show

The Rappahannock Concert Association will present the Rat Pack Impersonator Group Tribute Show at 7:30 p.m. May 17, at the Northumberland County School Performing Arts Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.

Naval battles on local waters

A discussion of naval battles and British raiding parties on the Rappahannock River during the War of 1812 will be held from 2-4 p.m. May 18 at Millmont, 987 Mill Wharf Road, Wake. The speaker will be Stuart L. Butler.

Fish fry

Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will host a fish fry from 4-6 p.m. May 24. The fee will be $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and younger. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

NCCCO dinner

The Northumberland County Community Center Organization, 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville, will serve a fried chicken or pig feet dinner from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 24. Dinners also will include potato salad, string beans, roll, drink and dessert.

“Frenemies”

“Founding Frenemies: Hamilton and the Virginians,” a traveling exhibit from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, will be on exhibit through May 26 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street Mathews.

Co-sponsored by the Mathews Museum and the Mathews County Historical Society, the exhibit complements Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning “Hamilton,” which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton’s relationships with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

Win a quilt

The American Legion Adams Post 86 Ladies Auxiliary is conducting a raffle of a hand-embroidered king/queen size quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Tickets may be purchased from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5, 6, 26 and 27 in front of Tri-Star Supermarket, 81 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock, or from any auxiliary member. A drawing will be held on September 16.

Mystery/comedy

The Lancaster Players will present “What Is ‘Murder’?” at The Lancaster Playhouse, The Lancaster Players Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone, at 8 p.m. June 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21; and 3 p.m. June 8, 15 and 22. The Playhouse will open one hour prior to curtain.

Virginia Resolved

Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, recently announced plans for Virginia Resolved: A Commemoration of Independence, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 7.

Juneteenth

The Northern Neck Hidden History Trail will hold a Juneteenth Celebration from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Ma Margaret’s House B&B, 249 Greenfield Road, Reedville.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Country singer Roberta Lea will bring soulful sounds with a country twist. There also will be line dancing, food, games and vendors.

Rotary meetings

The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.

Majong

The Woman’s Club of White Stone hosts mahjong games from 1-4 p.m. Mondays at the WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Text 436-7144 to reserve a table. The fee is $5 per person.
