Mystery/comedy
The Lancaster Players will present “What Is ‘Murder’?” at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone, at 8 p.m. June 13, 14, 20 and 21; and 3 p.m. June 15 and 22. The Playhouse will open one hour prior to curtain.

History discussion
The Historic Christchurch & Museum Spring Speaker Series will conclude today, June 12. Historian Jon Kukla will present “Patrick Henry: The Civic Faith of an Enlightened Patriot.”
The event will be held in the Bayne Center on the grounds of Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. Admission is by season subscription or $35, which includes a wine and cheese reception. For tickets go to ChristChurch1735.org.
Genealogy meeting
Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society (MPAAGHS) will hold a virtual meeting at 1 a.m. Saturday, June 14. To receive an invitation, email mpaaghs.va@gmail.com or call 651-8753.
This meeting will feature a roundtable discussion at which participants will have a chance to share queries and details about their family research.
Juneteenth
The Northern Neck Hidden History Trail will hold a Juneteenth Celebration from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Ma Margaret’s House B&B, 249 Greenfield Road, Reedville.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Country singer Roberta Lea will bring soulful sounds with a country twist. There also will be line dancing, food, games and vendors.
Self-protection
Linda Odum, P.I., will teach a self-protection class for women 18 and older from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
The class is offered at no charge, as a service to help women be safe and empowered. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a bag lunch and beverage. No martial arts will be taught.
Honoring Washington
George Washington Birthplace National Monument will host “Washington’s Call to Command” June 14 and 15, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and honoring George Washington as the Army’s first Commander in Chief.
On Sunday, “Washington as a Military Commander,” will be presented in the visitor center auditorium at 2 p.m. Throughout the weekend there will be demonstrations and kid-friendly activities.
Chris & Jane
Chris & Jane will return to the Music by the River Stage from 6-8 p.m. June 21 at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. The popular duo is planning a classic rock, country and folk show.
A $5 parking fee is payable at the gate. Picnics are encouraged. A limited number of picnic tables will be available. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Rotary meetings
The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.
Wedding gowns
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, requests your presence at “With This Ring” – a display of vintage wedding gowns and accessories on view in the Walker House through June 29.
Museum hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. Admission, which includes the Walker House and all other inside and outside exhibits, is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and veterans, and free for ages 16 and younger as well as active military members.
