Marlie Avant, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock (UUFR) in White Stone, was welcomed as UUFR’s interim lay minister for the congregation on November 30.
“I am drawn to interim ministry because I believe moments of transition are moments for reflection and creativity,” she said. “Having helped individuals and communities navigate loss, growth and change, I see my role as a facilitator—helping UUFR discern its next chapter, honor its stories and cultivate both resilience and hope.”
