The Kilmarnock and District Pipe Band (KDPB) and members of the Reedville Chorale will present a concert at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11, at the Half Shell Amphitheater, Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The free event will celebrate the service of veterans of all of the armed forces of the U.S. with maybe a token gesture to the Scots and Irish, reported KDPB president Bob Swann.
The program will include bagpipe music by the band, vocal music by the chorus, patriotic and national music and a poem or two, said Swann. The audience will be invited to sing along on a number of songs with lyrics provided in a program handout. The keyboard accompanist will be Carina Sprouse.
Parking will be available at the park, at the Municipal Parking lot by the Masonic Hall and at Lancaster Middle School. The library parking lot is reserved for library patrons and the band and chorus, he said.
“All are encouraged to attend to show our gratitude and support for the service of veterans of every age,” said Swann. “Veterans are encouraged to wear caps, medals or other symbols of their service. Active military should wear uniforms.”
Bring folding chairs since seating will not be provided.
In the event of serious rain, the event will be cancelled.
