VMRC to consider Dominion permit and guideline for oyster ground leases

FT. MONROE—The Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) will meet electronically at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 26. WebEx participation instructions may be found at https://mrc.virginia.gov/calendar.shtm.

The VMRC will consider an after-the-fact permit application from Dominion Electric for two work platforms as part of the underwater transmission line project in the Rappahannock River near the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.

According to the new permit application, the work platforms were placed closer to shorelines and oyster beds on both sides of the river: 1,160 feet on the Middlesex side and 310 feet on the Lancaster side.

Dominion also seeks to disturb 3.5 acres of river bottom using a hydraulic jetting method to bury…
