VSP reports two fatal vehicle crashes in the lower Northern Neck

KILMARNOCK—At 5:01 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers responded to an automobile crash at Morattico and River roads in Litwalton.

The investigation indicates that a Chrysler minivan was headed west on Morattico Road when it proceeded past a stop sign and was struck by a Dodge pickup headed north on River Road, reported VSP Richmond Division public information officer Sgt. Dylan Davenport.  

Brenda L. Sisson, 77, of Lancaster, was driving the Chrysler. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, a 21-year-old male, did not report any injury. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

At 2:54 a.m. on Monday, October 25, VSP troopers responded to a crash at Hacks Neck and Wicomico Point Roads.

The investigation indicates that a Mercedes sedan was headed north on Hacks Neck Road when it ran off the road to the right, struck a culvert, crossed Wicomico Point Road and struck a tree, reported Sgt. Davenport.

The driver, Heather A. Schaberg, 27, of Northumberland was not wearing a seatbelt. Schaberg succumbed to her injuries on scene. Troopers are investigating speed as a factor in the crash.

Investigations are ongoing.
