The Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 86 in Kilmarnock sent two girls from Lancaster High School to attend Girls State at Longwood College in Farmville June 19-25.
The girls who attended were Dallas Walker and Kaylen Lee, reported Martha Mahieu.
Because of COVID-19, auxiliary members were not allowed to enter the school so the girls were chosen by Lancaster High School employees Lynette Pewett and Joanie Perry.
Girls State was organized in 1937 as a national Americanism activity. It was designed to teach young women responsible citizenship and love for God and country…..
