Savannah, Georgia, may have its “Crown Jewel” parks, but the Northern Neck is developing its own gems. Strung along the Northern Neck “loop”—Routes 3, 360 and 200—these revitalized communities give visitors an opportunity to experience Southern charm at a slower pace and discover what makes the Northern Neck one-of-a-kind.
One of the evolving gems is Callao, which began a revitalization in 2015. Since then, the village has received a number of grants including a $700,000 Community Development Block Grant announced by Gov. Ralph Northam in September 2018.
