Wendell B. Sparrer Jr.

GLOUCESTER—Wendell “Bernie” Bernard Sparrer Jr., 54, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Bernie was a native of Seaford and a Gloucester resident for 30 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather.

He was an avid hunter, master angler and was known as an expert dog trainer. He was a dedicated employee for Virginia Dominion Power as a control room operator for 34 years.

He is survived by his children, Lauren Sparrer, Brittany Sparrer and Charlie Sparrer; his grandchildren, Ashanti, Aaron, Jamar (Jay), Shelton (Jr) Cameron, Ryleigh, Ella and Finn; his mother, Sharon E. Rowe; his father, Wendell B. Sparrer Sr. (Ava); his brothers, David Sparrer (Susan) and Keith Callis (Rachel); and sisters, Deborah Sparrer (Phillip) and Brooke Lucas (Keith); lifelong friend and cousin Preston Sparrer (Erika); and a special friend, Janet Crafford.

A service of celebration was held October 28 at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Seaford.

Amory Funeral Home of Grafton handled the arrangements.
