WHITE STONE—The White Stone Town Council quickly approved and appropriated a $453,425 budget for fiscal year 2026-27 and moved on to other business Thursday, June 11. Council had recessed its June 4 meeting to reconvene for the budget decision.
The motion to approve the budget, which totals $266,075 in the general fund and $187,350 for public utilities, was made by Ran Reeves and seconded by James “Jimmy” Smith. Charles Brocklebank moved to appropriate the funds and Smith second the motion. Both passed unanimously, 6-0, with Smith, Reeves, Brocklebank, Tad Pittman, AnnGardner Eubank and Kathryn “Scotty” Roop all voting in favor.
Council also addressed the vacant council position which opened when Irving Brittingham was appointed interim mayor June 4 to fill the unexpired term of former mayor William Hubbard.
Council tabled the appointment of an interim council member until the July meeting to allow town manager Patrick Frere and Brittingham time to reach out to the two candidates to see if either would….
