White Stone council donates $1,000 to Boys & Girls Club

WHITE STONE—The White Stone Town Council on August 4 voted unanimously, 5-0, to donate $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck in Kilmarnock.

According to town manager Patrick Frere, the club had made the request prior to the 2023 budget approval but he had failed to bring it up for discussion or add it to the budget. He was contacted again recently by board secretary Donna Anderson.

“It’s the first time they’ve asked for anything,” said Frere, who added that the club offers services to students living in White Stone. The money, he added, would support the club’s after-school programs.
